Lessons go for 1 hour in duration and operate on a fortnightly schedule. This ensures that students can fit in adequate practice each week and still manage other commitments.
Having a drum kit is always ideal when engaging in drum lessons, however at the very beginning, Christian can further tailor the lesson curriculum so that students are able to practice at home on household objects (no not pots and pans) - The ideal practice surface when a students doesn't yet have a drumkit is either a pillow or a mattress as it has the least amount of rebound. Drumsticks can be purchased from local music shops or online for $30 or less.
Christian records audio/video practice instructions during each lesson explaining exactly how and what to practice each fortnight which are sent to you via your very own password protected Dropbox link (for students under 18, practice videos are sent to parents).
No there are no bulk payments necessary. You pay for each lesson individually. If you miss a lesson or if Christian is absent, the lesson is skipped for that fortnight and you are not charged. In some instances a make up lesson can be organised during the same fortnight but this is subject to availability.
Christian brings a rare combination of real-world industry experience and proven teaching results that most drum teachers simply don’t have.
With over 19 years of teaching experience, he has worked with hundreds of students across all levels, refining a structured approach that consistently delivers results. More importantly, he is not just a teacher. He is an active touring and professional drummer, meaning students learn skills that actually apply in real musical situations, not just textbook exercises.
What truly sets Christian apart is his proprietary Drumming Letter System which is a unique and easy-to-understand drum notation method designed to simplify learning. Unlike traditional drum notation which can be confusing for beginners, this system allows students to quickly understand rhythms and start learning faster with rapid results. The best part is that Christian's drumming letter system is still set out and counted exactly like regular drumming notation, so when students are more advanced, moving back to regular drumming notation is easy and efficient.
The result is a learning experience that is clear, practical, and designed to get students playing confidently as quickly as possible, whether their goal is to play for fun, pass exams, or perform on stage.
Look, we haven’t officially checked with every drum teacher on the planet… but no one’s called to complain yet 😂
Jokes aside, “the best” is subjective, but what Christian focuses on is being the best possible teacher that incorporates a relaxed yet structured approach to learning, while catering to each student's individual learning style.
With nearly two decades of teaching behind him, Christian brings a level of experience, structure, and real-world knowledge that gives students a clear path forward. But more importantly, he genuinely cares about his students’ progress. Lessons aren’t just about playing drums, they’re about building confidence, discipline, and a long-term love of music.
Many students also find that Christian naturally steps into a mentor role, helping guide them not just musically, but in how to practice effectively, stay motivated, and set achievable goals.
So while “best in the world” might be up for debate, one thing is guaranteed. Students are supported, challenged, and genuinely looked after every step of the way.
